Real Women at LG Fashion Week

March 21, 2009

We were pleased to have partnered with Vancouver-based designer Cheri Milaney to present her Fall/Winter 2009 collection on women of diverse ages, sizes, and backgrounds on Wednesday March 18th at LG Fashion Week in Toronto. Mothers, teachers, entrepreneurs, lawyers, students, artists, and women who had courageously battled cancer walked the runway with radiance and confidence, breathing life and movement into the clothes. This event marks the first fashion show at any fashion week in the world to showcase a collection on women of diverse sizes and ages.

Do my eyes deceive me?? Real women on a catwalk??

Ben, I just read about you and your agency in a story on boston.com and would like to say that you are a true visionary, who knows what women want.

The Dove campaign for real women was a phenomenal breakthrough for the majority of us who try on something that looks good on the mannequin, and not so good on a fresh-and-blood woman with curves.

Thank you so much for doing what you do. I wish you much success and hope one day the rest of the world will see what you see….beautiful, REAL women.

How FANTASTIC IS THIS? The girls look incredible, and thank God someone is finally turning on the light, and moving forth with courage and being real!

l truly believe that this is where the Fashion World is headed. Let’s face it, women should look like women! l believe that on the runway in Paris/Milan that tall slender girls will always be a part of this industry. Gaunt looking, seems to portray an extremely deprived intake of healthy food, rest, and dignity. So, with that, what are we teaching our girls?

    Well Done!!

    Sincere Regards
    Catherine

The funny thing is- when I look at the clothes- I think, I could wear that. I’ve never, ever thought that before about anything I’ve seen on a catwalk, but seeing these ladies who are normally sized and seeing just how beautiful they look, I think that I would actually buy some of the pieces they’re wearing.
